本次生工實習專題演講我們很榮幸邀請到廣達的郭佳琦處長與我們分享代工產業的發展現況與在其中工作逾二十年的感想。3C產業是台灣最重要的產業之一,以鴻海而言,其在2020年的年營收達到181.95億台幣,名列Fortune雜誌全球500大公司的第22名,也是台灣唯一一間挺進百名以內的公司;而廣達電腦為代工五哥之一,被認為是台灣ODM公司中最頂尖的,目前的業務範圍涵蓋了為客戶生產電腦、伺服器以及提供雲端資料中心的服務。除介紹廣達的服務範疇之外,郭處長也鼓勵學生們要拓展自己的視野,具備產品行銷的概念有助釐清市場定位、提升品牌價值,以iPod為例,蘋果在2000年推出在台灣風靡一時,台灣的科技公司看見潛在需求決定開發具有各式功能的產品諸如隨身聽、數位相機、電子辭典、GPS導航等,無非是要求更多的功能、更好的價格,期望能在市場中勝出,最終卻敗在定位不夠明確、使用起來不夠便利直覺、產品銷售量不夠大使得售後服務品質也有所欠缺,此現象說明了在台灣的品牌經營困境,還需要更多專業人才與目標受眾。最後郭處長提醒了我們在職場時有不少要點是學校所不會教授給你的,在跨入職場時做好準備、養成好的習慣可以幫助我們更好的適應業界工作的步調。

It is our pleasure to have director Joyce Kuo from Quanta Computer. The topic of this speech is the strength of high-tech manufacturers, and she also shared her working experience in this industry for more than 20 years. 3C industry is one of the most important industries in Taiwan, which is confirmed by Hong Hai Precision Industry's annual revenue, which reached a value of $181.950B in 2020. This pushed Hong Hai Precision Industry to the 22nd position on the Fortune 500 list. Among all the 3C industry companies, Quanta is considered one of the best ODM companies in Taiwan. The primary services they offer to their clients include notebooks, server and QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology, a provider of data center hardware and cloud solutions). Besides introducing the general state of affairs of Quanta Computer and the 3C industry, the speaker also encouraged the students to learn to have a marketing mindset, as with this knowledge we would be able to increase the value of our products. For instance, during the early 2000s, iPod became one of the most popular 3C products in Taiwan. As such, a lot of Taiwanese companies tried to copy the design and make profits from it. However, with a higher sense of marketing mindset, those companies could have designed and manufactured a completely new design with multiple functions, which might make more profit since the TA's (target audience) preference in Taiwan is to buy the most valuable product with the lowest price. Finally, the lecturer told us that many of the things we learn at school will not help us survive in the real world. Thus, it is imperative for us to quickly discover the gap between school and the real world, and take appropriate actions to bridge the gap and be better prepared before we graduate.
