Center for Law, Technology and Ethics (CLTE), College of Law, National Taiwan University
Originally established as the "BioMed Law Research Center," the unit was reorganized on July 1, 1999, as the "Center for Law and Technology." In March 2004, it was renamed the "Center for Law, Technology and Ethics." Subsequently, on July 1, 2021, following the College of Law's undertaking of the Ministry of Education's Digital Law Research Project, the College Council resolved to rename it the "Digital Law Center." On September 20, 2023, the College Council further resolved to maintain the operations of the Digital Law Center while restoring the name "Center for Law, Technology and Ethics."
The Center periodically organizes academic conferences, seminars, and roundtable discussions, inviting Judicial Yuan Justices, IPCC judges, attorneys, patent attorneys/agents, and other practitioners to engage in dialogue with scholars. By fostering interdisciplinary and international exchange, the Center provides robust research foundations and institutional planning in the fields of biotechnology and intellectual property law in Taiwan. It also hosts an Intellectual Property Law Forum, offering graduate students valuable opportunities for discussion and collaboration.
