本中心非常高興在2024年6月17日(一)下午邀請到美國南加州大學法學院USC Gould School of Law  Prof. Abby K. Wood 分享講題:“Facebook Political Ads and Accountability: Outside Groups Are Most Negative,Especially When Hiding Donors”,探討現今時代選舉廣告與當代科技於社群媒體上所衍伸的法律議題,並由本校公法中心主任張文貞教授與談、本院蘇慧婕副教授與政治大學科管與智慧財產研究所宋皇志教授一同與談,司法官學院導師與新北市地方檢察署檢察官們亦到場共相盛舉。會中,Prof. Abby 透過量化數據與她個人擔任加州選舉評議委員的觀察,分享目前美國針對大選中消息與廣告所衍伸的問題與趨勢。

 

在分享會開始之前,科倫中心主任李素華教授、公法中心主任張文貞教授、政治大學科管與智慧財產研究所宋皇志教授、與前內政部、教育部部長,環境永續發展中心主任葉俊榮教授一同餐敘,與Prof. Abby 分享我國近幾十年來的民主發展與未來期望,並對民主政治、科技發展與民主落實產生的疑慮有深度交流。

 

本中心很高興首次與美國南加州大學(USC)進行學術交流,科倫中心與公法中心主任李素華教授與張文貞教授對於臺大法學院與美國南加州大學開啟國際交流與合作樂觀其成,並誠摯地邀請Prof. Abby若有機會竭誠歡迎擔任本院之客座教授,相信對於本院師生在美國科技與公法研究上將大有斬獲。

 

The Center for Law, Technology and Ethics (CLTE) is thrilled to have Professor Abby K. Wood from the USC Gould School of Law to speak on June 17, 2024 (Monday) afternoon. Her lecture, titled “Facebook Political Ads and Accountability: Outside Groups Are Most Negative, Especially When Hiding Donors,” explored the legal issues arising from election advertising and contemporary technology on social media. The discussion was moderated by Professor Wen-Chen Chang, the director of Center of Public Law (CPL),  with contributions from Associate Professor Hui-Chieh Su of NTULaw and Professor Song Huang-Chih from NCCU TIIPM. Judicial officials and prosecutors from the New Taipei City District Prosecutors Office was also in attendance. During the event, Professor Abby shared insights on issues and trends related to election-related information and advertising in the U.S., based on quantitative data and her personal observations as a California election advisory committee member.

Before the event, Professor Su-Hua Lee, Director of CLTE, Professor Wen-Chen Chang, Director of CPL, Professor Song Huang-Chih, and Professor Jiunn-Rong Yeh , former Minister of the Interior and Education and Director of the Environmental Sustainability Center, had a lunch meeting.  During the lunch meeting, they  discussed  Taiwan’s democratic development over the past decades and future expectations with Professor Abby, engaging in a deep exchange on the concerns arising from democratic politics, technological advancements, and the realization of democracy.

CLTE is excited to engage in academic exchange with USC for the first time. Professors Su-Hua Lee and Wen-Chen Chang  look forward to  the opening of international exchange and cooperation between NTULaw and USC. Gould School of Law.  CLTE and CPL extend our invitation to Professor Abby to serve as a visiting professor at our institute,  we believe  that this would greatly benefit our faculty and students in the areas of American technology and public law research.
