Dr. Pooya Alaedini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Planning, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tehran. In addition to authoring research monographs and peer-reviewed articles, he has (co-) edited the following volumes: Social Policy in Iran (Routledge, 2022); Industrial, Trade, and Employment Policies in Iran (Springer, 2018); and Economic Welfare and Inequality in Iran (Palgrave, 2017). He has a Ph.D. in urban planning and policy development from Rutgers University.
演講內容：
In this presentation, Iran’s low-income housing policies and slum regeneration initiatives are discussed. Housing policies targeting low-income groups have mainly focused on homeownership. No social or affordable rental housing initiative has been undertaken in the country—notwithstanding public housing provided to government employees, a short-lived rent-to-own initiative, and limited housing-assistance activities carried out for vulnerable groups. Given the circumstances, slums have continued to expand on urban fringes. The government has formulated specific programs for slum regeneration but has not succeeded in scaling up these activities.
