The Institute of Industrial Engineering at National Taiwan University (NTU-IIE) announced that Dr. Jakey Blue has been promoted to the rank of associate professor, effective August 1, 2022.
Jakey Blue received his B.S. in Business Administration, M.S. in Industrial Engineering, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2000, 2002, and 2010. After one year of working as a principal engineer at TSMC, he went to France for postdoctoral research on EU projects. In 2013, he got a tenure-track position in the Département Sciences de la Fabrication et Logistique (SFL) at MINES Saint-Étienne, France. In 2019, he joined the faculty of NTU-IIE.
Dr. Blue’s research interests include statistical machine learning, manifold learning, time-series analytics, advanced process control, and explainable AI. He is now running the Laboratory of Analytics on Knowledge Engineering (LAKE) at NTU-IIE. His professional goal is to pursue excellence in researching and developing theories, algorithms, and frameworks of data-driven knowledge engineering. Landing the AI developments to practical implementations through industrial collaboration is also his main focus. His continuous investigations have led to two research pillars: AI-empowered Process Control (AIPC); and Singular Data Analytics.
Through cross-domain collaborations, Dr. Blue’s research has been published in 14 journal articles, contributed to real-world problems, and adopted in practical manufacturing scenes. Over the past decade, collaborative works have been executed in the following fields with internationally-renowned partners:
- AI-empowered Process Control (AIPC):
- FDC and PHM: AustriaMicroSystems (Austria), LFoundry (France)
- VM & R2R: STMicroelectronics (France); Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Coimbra (Portugal); Allied Circuit (PCB company in Taiwan)
- OEE: NXP Semiconductor (Netherlands), TSMC (Taiwan).
- Singular Data Analytics (SDA):
- Spatial Density-based Augmentation: Institute of Applied Mechanics at NTU (Taiwan).
- Binary Data Structure, Concept Drift, Model Optimization: AU Optronics (AUO, Taiwan)
- MR Imaging Analysis for Hepatocellular Carcinoma:
- Liver and Tumor Segmentation for Clinic Reference: College of Medicine at NTU (Taiwan)
- Multi-Object Tracking and Segmentation:
