As the society undergoes rapid transformation, higher education is redefining a learner-centric model and shifting from specialization to a more holistic approach. This shift has introduced diverse and innovative teaching methodologies, now embraced as a global trend in higher education. In 2019, NTU launched its learner-centered Future NTU Initiatives, aiming to break down disciplinary barriers and foster a vision that promotes self-actualization and collective wisdom.
By integrating academic and administrative resources, NTU has developed the NTU Specialization Program (NTU-SP) and Credit Program, empowering students to pursue flexible, self-directed learning tailored as per their interests and career goals. To further support this vision, the university has established a robust learning framework, fostering comprehensive transdisciplinary education. This includes the University Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Program (UIBP), which encourages students to engage in structured cross-disciplinary studies, enhancing their ability to apply knowledge across fields; meanwhile, the Trans-disciplinary Bachelor Degree Program (TBD) is designed to nurture innovative thinking. These programs provide NTU students with opportunities to explore interdisciplinary and innovative learning pathways, unlocking new possibilities under the "Open Major" initiative.
