At the end of each semester, the Center will commend several teachers of Liberal Education courses with an award of excellence based on the following scoring criteria and weighting:
˙ How well the design of the course meets the goals of liberal education (10%); ˙ How well the course is implemented with regard to the suitability of the academic content, student assignments, evaluation of learning, etc. (25%); ˙ The utilization of teaching assistants (25%); ˙ The quality of the course content with respect to its innovativeness and significance (10%); ˙ Its use of CEIBA to enhance learning (15%); ˙ Student enrollment, instructional evaluation, the students’ grade average and standard deviation, and the proportion of the students’ studying time outside the classroom spent on the course will be taken into consideration (15%).
Recipients of the excellence in Liberal Education award will be bestowed with a grant of up to 50,000 NT to assist them with teaching-related costs for their next Liberal Education course; awardees will be publicly recognized in an announcement, and will be invited to give a talk during the summer program that exemplifies their teaching approach and encourages other instructors to dedicate themselves to liberal education.
