本實驗室有興趣的主題在於抗體類型轉換 (class switch recombination, CSR) 機制，脊椎動物發展出複雜的免疫系統以抵抗各式感染性及外來物質，其中應變性免疫系統 (adaptive immune system) 的B細胞產生能與外來物質具高度親合性及專一性的免疫球蛋白 (或稱抗體)，免疫球蛋白具多種不同類型以幫助免疫系統有效率清除各種不同性質的感染物或外來物質。抗體類型轉換為於B細胞內一DNA重組的分子機制，促使B細胞自分泌IgM抗體類型轉換成分泌其他類型的抗體，包含IgA, IgG及IgE等。抗體類型轉換為一具區域專一性的DNA重組機制，發生於抗體基因的轉換區域 (switch regions)，於哺乳動物中，轉換區域由GC rich的重複性序列組成，特別是包含G-rich的非模板DNA，除此之外，於每個轉換區域上游皆有一啟動子，會因不同抗原刺激而被活化產生一轉錄產物，稱為sterile transcripts。至目前為止，對於抗體類型轉換的詳細分子機轉尚未非常清楚，本實驗室利用基因陣列 (microarray) 及蛋白質體學 (proteomics) 的技術分析，篩選於小鼠B細胞在進行抗體類型轉換時具重要性的基因或蛋白質，並再利用shRNA技術抑制小鼠基因表現或進行基因剔除，藉以深入研究抗體類型轉換的分子機轉。
本實驗室的另一研究主題著重於如何藉由分子生物技術，如噬菌體抗體庫 (phage display library)，進行病理性疾病的分子生物標誌的篩選或識別。篩選出新的分子生物標靶 (biomarker)，與其相對應的配體 (targeting ligand) 的影像標誌，將可運用在分子影像系統及潛在的藥物輸送策略上，進而促進轉譯醫學相關研究的發展。於分子影像系統的應用，主要是將所篩選出新的分子生物標誌搭配相對應，客製化的配體顯像探針，應用於非侵入性的影像系統，如光學，核磁共振和放射核子影像，進而能於活體中早期發現或是觀察目標病理性疾病的症狀。這些影像標把技術，無論是在基礎癌症生物學的研究或是分子影像輔助的治療方法 (包括放射治療或化療) ，都將會有著顯著的影響。
