Center of Student Well-Being

Approved in the 3094th NTU Administative Meeting on 25th May 2021

  1. National Taiwan University (hereinafter referred to as "NTU") has established the Center of Student Well-Being (hereinafter referred to as "CSW") under the Office of Student Affairs to enhance students' campus life adaptation, elevate the dimension of student care, strengthen the operation of the mentorship system, and establish a robust student counseling network.
     
  2. The mission of CSW is as follows:
    1. Strengthening campus primary prevention efforts to promote a caring culture and establish a frontline station for student counseling and care.
    2. Enhancing the dimension and precision of the student counseling network through the deployment of Campus Advisors.
    3. Integrating resources related to student counseling from both within and outside the university to provide students with comprehensive counseling and care.
    4. Assisting academic units in implementing student counseling affairs, understanding student needs, and providing necessary assistance or referrals in a timely manner.
    5. Coordinating with the Office of Student Affairs' student counseling guidelines, serving as a communication bridge between the Office of Student Affairs and academic units, and jointly assisting students in their holistic development on campus.
  3. CSW is headed by one director, who is appointed by the Vice President for Student Affairs and concurrently appointed by the President from the university's full-time faculty. The director is responsible for overseeing various operations of the center. Additionally, there are several administrative staff members. The center also employs Campus Advisors, whose appointments are based on the student enrollment numbers in various departments and schools within the university. These professionals are responsible for planning and implementing various programs and activities within the center.
     
  4. The responsibilities of the Campus Advisors are as follows:
    1. Provide consultation and walk-in services for students of the selected colleges.
    2. Promote Campus Living Support Program, proactively understand students' needs, introduce relevant resources, and strengthen students' coping strategies for difficulties.
    3. Coordinate resources on and off campus, collaborate with faculties within the school system, and actively provide counseling assistance.
    4. Be familiar with services from all sectors in the Office of Student Affairs, ensure easy accessibility of those services for students in need, and provide students with timely and accurate information.
    5. Create a caring environment, build long-term sustainable rapport with students, and offer assessment and resource referrals based on students' needs and situations.
    6. Attend seminars and training courses/workshops to upgrade professional competence.
    7. Handle administrative requests and update case records.
  5. The administrative staff and Campus Advisors of CSW should undergo annual performance evaluations in accordance with NTU's personnel evaluation procedures for contracted employees.
     
  6. This standard is approved after the administrative meeting and will be implemented from the date of publication.
