This specimen of Chinese pangolin was collected by Professor Bunichiro Aoki when Taiwan under Japanese colonization. Demanded as a Chinese medicine ingredient, the population of Chinese pangolin has declined significantly due to poaching activity. It is currently listed as a secondary endangered and protected animal species in China.
