Aquaculture provides us ornamental fish and high quality food, which is of great benefit to our lives in the decades. However, the problems of aquatic diseases are more and more serious, which not only cause great economic losses, but also threaten the related industry chain.
Imbalance of immunity and microorganisms is one of the most important factors leading diseases. Therefore, understanding the interactions of immunity and microorganisms in fish can establish a solid foundation for the preventing and therapeutic strategy of fish disease.
In the light of this, our lab focus on demystifying the mechanism of fish microbial immunity. We use the latest research thinking and technology in systems biology and bioinformatics to draw a complete picture of fish microbial immunity. We also introduce the concept of  "microbiome as an organ of animals" to our research, thus regulating the microbiota by probiotics to enhance the immunity of fish and efficacy of vaccine. We expect to resolve the issues of aquatic diseases in an eco-friendly way by reducing the use of antibiotics and toxic drugs in the near future.
